Hotel Herastrau - Bucharest

The breakfast was not by the river as promised, what a let down. The noise from the AC and fridge was unbearable, leading me to believe soundproofing is non-existent. For 137 Euro, one would think I'd get a room upgrade upon check-in, but unsurprisingly, that didn't happen either. Almost gave a good review but just couldn't.

Breakfast isn't served by the picturesque river, contrary to what's shown in promotional photos. The room lacks soundproofing. Ambient noise along with a loud AC and fridge made sleeping tricky. The shower drain needed maintenance, causing minor inconvenience. For a longer stay, housekeeping seems absent, with room service only provided upon request for trash collection.

I greatly enjoyed the hotel, it was perfect with fast wi-fi. Big and huge rooms had free wireless internet access, a TV set and a balcony. The location was marvellous and stunning, next to a lake and a park. There was Stradale nearby, offering quick meals.

The spacious outdoor terrace offers fine lake views that make for a relaxing atmosphere. The extensive breakfast options include freshly made fried eggs that are a good way to start the morning.

The decor feels like it hasn't been updated since the 1980s, missing an opportunity to impress. The shower drains are prone to clogging, a nuisance for longer stays. Noise from nearby events can be disruptive, and the distance to public transportation is a hassle, especially if you're trying to navigate in bad weather. Plus, there's a noticeable absence of basic room amenities like coffee kettles, quite annoying.

Excellent jogging routes

I loved the warm and friendly staff who were always helpful. The location reminded me of a haven with fine views of the trees and the lake, giving it a forest-like ambiance. Breakfast offered a good selection with fresh options.

The beautiful lake view and spacious room made our stay lovely. Breakfast was delish! But no kettle and limited nearby shops was a bit of a hassle. 😊

Really good lake views from the outdoor terrace.

The breakfast options were plentiful, and the outdoor terrace atmosphere was perfect for our group. The restaurant by the lake was fantastic, and we loved the nearby Children's Island for fun activities. The location made it easy to explore the beautiful park and enjoy a relaxing walk around the lake. Highly recommend it for any group getaway!

One minor setback was the absence of a kettle in our room, which would have been nice for having a cup of tea when we wanted.

The room with a lake view was magnificent! It provided a serene atmosphere, away from any noisy roads. The breakfast was excellent, with a variety of options, and the chef prepared delicious, fresh fried eggs to order. The location was ideal, as it's adjacent to a large park with plenty of activities for families and just a short distance from restaurants and grocery stores.

The seasonal dining options had limited variety.

Perfect family getaway!

The kids loved the playground nearby, and we enjoyed some lovely meals. The outdoor terrace was so chill with live music and a fine view. Only wish the in-room breakfast menu had more options. Still, the fried eggs were super fresh and tasty!
